How ductless heating systems work
A ductless heater uses the split system where outdoor and indoor units work simultaneously to heat the rooms within your home. The system releases heat in a process where a refrigerant medium is evaporated and condensed.
The ductless systems have two heat exchange coils that act on the refrigerant. This refrigerant soaks in the heat (evaporation) and then releases the stored heat (condensation). A thermostat regulates the heat.
Signs that your ductless heater needs repairs
Some signs that can alert you that your ductless mini split needs repairs include:
- Uneven heating across your home is a sign that repairs are necessary. Look out for the temperature in the various rooms. If some areas in your house are too cold, warmer, or too warm compared to the others, something may be wrong. It may mean that your ductless system is too old, the blower fan is not functioning, or the heating power has failed.
- If you find out that your outdoor compressor unit is not working, it is time to think of repairs. It could be that it has worn down and requires attention. This is despite the indoor component working well.
What action to take
Once you know that all is not well, it is prudent to seek the services of a professional to repair your unit at the earliest possible to avert any more loss or further damage. Nothing beats an efficient ductless heating system as it gives you peace. It also reduces your utility bill.
