Is the indoor fan running and air blowing out of your vents?

**Your unit may be equipped with a safety float switch that is connected to the condensate drain at your indoor unit. The safety switch could be wired to shut down the outside unit ONLY to prevent further condensate backup and flooding.**

Solution

  • Check for a clogged condensate drain and clear if it appears clogged or there is evidence of water on the floor at the indoor unit or standing water is present inside the condensate pipe. NEVER use any chemicals including but not limited to bleach, vinegar, Drain-O inside your condensate drain. The use of anything OTHER THAN HOT water will cause eventual coil rupture and refrigerant leaks.
  • The use of a Wet Vac is preferable for homeowner fixes of a clogged drain.
  • Give your air conditioner a couple of minutes and see if it cycles on.

***NOTE--- Your unit most likely has a built in time delay. You MUST allow 10 minutes for the time delay to reset and the system to start-up*** DO NOT keep adjusting the thermostat during this time.

If you are just turning your heat on for the first time this winter, it is not unusual, and in fact, is quite common for you to experience a dusty, burning smell. Most chances are that your furnace is actually burning away that old dust, debris and buildup that is present on your heat pump’s emergency backup electric heat strips. This is very normal. However, should the smell continue or you feel alarmed, scheduling a repair call would be the prudent approach.

Solution

  • Allow the dusty burning smell to dissipate. It should clear within an hour or so, depending upon amount of buildup present.
  • Be sure the A/C- furnace filter is clean and/or replaced as indicated.

Schedule for Maintenance

This is due to your system operating in the “Defrost Mode”: This happens during the heating season and is actually normal operation of the system. Outdoor condensing coils will tend to have a buildup of ice occur during low outside (ambient) temperatures. This occurs especially during moist conditions. This buildup will cause a unit to loose efficiency by blocking air flow. The system will regularly place itself in “defrost mode” to clear its coil and improve efficiency and airflow.

Solution

  • Continue normal operation.
  • Do not be alarmed should you experience a short burst of cooler air flowing from the air vents. It is actually the air conditioner functioning in the cool setting. The system will activate the supplemental heat to offset this cooling effect during the defrost cycle. The heating cycle will return to normal heating operation when the defrost cycle terminates.

What Our Clients Are Saying

  • The people at Amazing Inc truly are Amazing. My furnace went out last winter and they were at my home and had my furnace working within an hour. Thanks to the Radio Shopping Show for turning us on to such a great business.
    Gene W.
  • Hi to all my friends at WBIG! I had the serviceman from Amazing Inc out to the house to clean and check my furnace. As always, he did a very thorough and complete job! He spent a lot of time checking everything and cleaned every nook and cranny there. And, as I have said before about Amazing, the best part is the trust I have in them. I have used them many times, both for the furnace and the A/C, and they always do a great job, and have never recommended unnecesary work or parts. Trust in the service industries is the most important thing to me, and Amazing has earned mine a long time ago!
    Mark C.
  • I Call Amazing every Spring and Fall, They do my A/C and my Furnace cleaning every year now for the past 5 years. They are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and they do a great job. You could call 100 different companies that do this type of work, but if you are looking for the best in quality and really friendly people Amazing is your best bet. They come when they say they are coming, they are very clean and respectful. They have my business for life.
    Joe N.
  • Amazing is Great. They Gave us so many tips on how to keep our energy bills low, And I thought I would have to wait for a long time for them to come out but they were out the very next day.
    Shelly M.
  • Amazing is the best!! Whether it's been installing our new furnace or just doing quality control to make sure everything is safe for my family, I really appreciate all they do for me. Everyone is so polite and nice, There is a real comfort zone with Amazing and that's why I recommend them to everyone I know.
    Chuck W.
  • We had Amazing come and perform a furnace clean and check. The service was prompt, courteous and professional. Would definitely use their service again!!!
    Karen B.
  • The service was great, They were very polite and and I now notice a reduction in my heating bill.
    Sandy M.
  • I have used Amazing for furnace cleaning, air conditioning cleaning, and recent whole house humidifier installation. Each time they were prompt and accommodating in scheduling appointments. Every time the serviceman, Joel, was very thorough and courteous. He offered money saving suggestions for making my furnace and central air conditioner run more efficiently and last longer. He explained the maintenance required to make my humidifier work properly. Today I purchased a carbon monoxide detector through WBIG. I am confident that I will be satisfied again. In the past my cousin serviced my HVAC system at my old house. Since I moved further to Aurora I am happy that WBIG has found me a competent company to replace my cousin in my new home. They have also kept my costs for those services inexpensive!
    Jane H.
  • We have been very pleased with their service. The persons coming to service us have been very courteous, friendly, professional and punctual. We will definitely call on them anytime we are in need of their services. We are so glad we came to know them. Thank you
    Dolores M.
  • Nobody does it better-they do such a thorough job tht they helped me save my grandson and his family's lives. When inspecting their furnace, a crack was found in the month of October in a home just purchased in July. This was a gift from them and thank God, because it saved them from very potential danger. Thanks again Amazing Air.
    Lil L.
  • Absolutely great service from Amazing. They were very professional, extremely clean and did a great job of cleaning our furnace. Because we have an older furnace we expected Amazing to tell us that we need a new one, but we didn't have any pressure from them about that at all. It was easy to get an appointment from them that fit our schedule and they were on time. Amazing is a great company and very highly recommend them for any home maintenance needs.
    Laura G.

    Jennifer U.
  • On March 6, 2009 Amazing Inc. replaced my 35 year old furnace with their Payne High Efficiency Furnace. I first met with Doug, the owner, to go over the details and set a date and time for installation. The service technician arrived as scheduled and within 3.5 hours the old furnace was removed and the new furnace installed and all the debris cleared and hauled away. The AMAZING service was truly "AMAZING!"
    Dorores M.
  • I've used them three times in the past year. First they replaced my hot water heater, then they cleaned my furnace for winter, and last week I had them out to service my air conditioner. They even came out once free of charge when the pilot light on the water heater had to be re-ignited. Always excellent service.
    Paul G.
  • This is the second year in a row that I have used Amazing, Inc. for my air conditioning clean and check. I am impressed with their servicemen and I'm so glad I can get discounts for their service on the Radio Shopping Show.
    Jennifer U.
  • They were very polite and really did a GREAT job of cleaning my furnace. In fact they discovered my heat exchanger was rusting so I replaced my furnace.
    June G.
  • Doug is truly amazing. He is extremely honest. Instead of trying to sell me expensive services and a new a/c he fixed the problem. He came out the same day and took care of it. He is a great person. This is the only place to go to get your a/c fixed. He made me a very loyal customer.
    Judy
  • The Radio Shopping Show did it again and so did Amazing! This was my 3rd time using Amazing and was very pleased with the friendly service.
